The University of Wollongong (UOW) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Indigenous Future Student Program Coordinator to lead the development, delivery, and coordination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student recruitment, outreach, and on-campus programs targeting high school and primary school students.This pivotal role sits within the Woolyungah Indigenous Centre (WIC) and plays a key role in engaging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students to increase aspirations for higher education, promote UOW's Indigenous Admissions Program, and contribute to student equity targets.
The position works closely with Woolyungah's Future Student Stream and Student Success Stream to ensure the delivery of culturally appropriate and effective programs.Key responsibilities include developing programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students in targeted UOW catchment areas and coordinating outreach and on-campus activities.
You will foster partnerships with schools and community organisations to increase applications for UOW's Indigenous Admissions Program, ensuring program design is culturally appropriate and aligned with the university's objectives.
Building relationships with stakeholders, contributing to recruitment and marketing strategies, and managing social media content are also key tasks.
You will provide reports on program effectiveness, recruit and manage Indigenous Student Ambassadors, and contribute to strategies that enhance Indigenous student access, support, and retention.
Applicants must be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage and have proven experience in program development, delivery, and managing competing priorities.
The role requires strong administrative skills, proficiency in office technologies, and the ability to engage young Indigenous people, fostering their aspirations.
Candidates must be able to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience is required, along with excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students, families, and communities is essential, as is the ability to plan and execute recruitment and marketing events.
