The RoleThe Indigenous Community Engagement Specialist is a key role that will continue to build on Balarinji's long-standing and valued relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
You will work across a diverse breadth of client deliveries, to ensure best practice engagement with local Indigenous communities on major design projects.
The Ideal Candidate A confident individual who is capable of working autonomously as well as collaborating with a cohesive and motivated team.
You thrive on building and fostering relationships whilst using your proactive thinking and problem-solving skills to achieve tasks and goals.
You are a strong communicator that is adaptable whilst remaining calm and supportive.
Key Responsibilities Build positive relationships with key stakeholders from a diverse range of community groups and assist with engagement required across projects.Work closely with relevant community groups and other stakeholders to discuss project opportunities, as well as develop and implement engagement strategies.Draft Indigenous stakeholder communications, relevant to the project delivery requirements.Manage, facilitate, and attend Indigenous community consultations and workshops.Accountable for the day-to-day delivery of all community engagement activities.Experience Ideally 2+ years' Community engagement experience.Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics and protocols of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and ability to communicate effectively with local communities.Stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and influence successful partnerships and networks.Ability to work autonomously as well as cohesively as part of a small team.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.A positive team culture is the driver of all we do at Balarinji, where authenticity and respect are central.
