The Role The Indigenous Engagement & Partnerships Manager at SBS plays a crucial role in fostering strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Working collaboratively across the business and with external stakeholders, you will manage and implement strategic engagement projects, facilitate and implement partnerships, provide cultural leadership, and support SBS's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) initiatives.
You will also offer high-level advice on matters of Indigenous policy, ensuring that SBS's content, operations, and partnerships align with the diverse cultures and values of First Nations peoples.
Key Responsibilities Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and execute a First Nations stakeholder engagement strategy, building and maintaining positive relationships with key Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders.
Facilitate partnerships that align with SBS's mission, ensuring consistent messaging and relationship continuity.
Policy and Cultural Leadership: Provide high-level advice to SBS's Executive and Senior Management on Indigenous cultural protocols, community consultation, and best practices.
Support SBS's RAP by managing relationships with Reconciliation Australia and providing leadership and guidance on the implementation of key initiatives, and Ngarra - the First Nations Staff Advisory Group.
Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and management of Indigenous-focused projects and partnerships, including significant cultural and community events like NAIDOC Week.
Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring alignment with SBS's strategic objectives.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the Indigenous Engagement & Partnerships team, fostering a cohesive and productive environment.
Ensure the team's work reflects SBS's values and complies with relevant policies and procedures.
About you A minimum of 8 years of experience in Indigenous engagement, with a proven track record of providing senior-level advice and managing complex projects.
Experience in the media sector is advantageous.
Strong strategic thinking and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively across diverse stakeholders.
Deep understanding of the diverse cultures, languages, and communities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Demonstrated experience in managing teams, budgets, and resources, with a focus on achieving strategic outcomes and increasing impact.
