About the Position
As the Indigenous Australian Employment Specialist, you are responsible for taking a lead role in identifying, developing, promoting and implementing Indigenous Australian employment and development opportunities throughout the university. As a specialist in attraction, retention, support and development strategies for QUT staff who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, you also promote QUT as a preferred employer within Indigenous Australian communities and to prospective candidates.
You will provide executive officer support to the relevant committees / groups to ensure appropriate consultation and ongoing effective implementation of the QUT Indigenous Australian Employment Strategy. In addition, you will apply your excellent people skills to build relationships with a wide range of internal stakeholders and external groups to deliver on the University's recruitment strategy.
For a detailed position description please email ****** Key Duties Contribute to the development and implementation of the university's QUT Indigenous Australian Employment Strategy.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop strategies, tools, guidelines and processes to support the employment participation of Indigenous Australians.Implement, monitor, report and review employment strategies.Develop and implement strategies to support the development of existing Indigenous Australian employees.Provide advice on Indigenous Australian issues and protocols within the context of the attraction, retention, support and development of Indigenous staff within the higher education sector.Establish successful relationships with Indigenous Australian communities and with relevant university staff.Work closely with other staff of the Human Resources Department in implementing the strategy and in ensuring the provision of a responsive and integrated service.Develop and implement training and information sessions to university staff on matters affecting the attraction, retention, support and development of Indigenous Australians.Coordinate meetings of and provide executive officer support to the relevant committees / groups.In consultation with the Equity Department and the Oodgeroo Unit, assist staff and managers on inter-cultural issues pertaining to workplaces shared by Indigenous Australians.Selection Criteria Education and training equivalent to postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards postgraduate qualifications) in human resources or a related area with extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.Proven track record in leading and contributing to organisational attraction, retention, support and development strategies for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.Demonstrated ability to build, sustain and leverage effective internal and external networks with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary HR policy, practices and frameworks.High level of written and oral communication skills.The classification for this position is Higher Education Worker Level 8 (HEW8) which has an annual remuneration range of $130,901 to $148,369 pa. Which is inclusive of an annual salary range of $110,613 to $125,373 pa, 17% superannuation, and leave loading.
