The Indigenous Arts Industry Development Officer for the central region is to act on the findings of the Indigenous Business Survey completed by Gidarjil, in which the need to provide greater support to Indigenous artists in Central Queensland was recognised.
The position is responsible for providing identified training in arts, business management and records and mentoring, and to coordinate the development of the Indigenous Arts Industry in the Central Queensland/Wide Bay Region.Role DescriptionDevelop a project plan to guide the project's implementation.Further develop Gidarjil database – mapping of needs in the region.
To update and accumulate further information from the Regional Councils/Corporations/Indigenous Organisation/Business and Artists.Identify Resources – Information dissemination and referrals to clients and stakeholders in relation to exhibitions, career development, funding opportunities, purchase and supply of materials and training opportunities.Develop projects with Indigenous artists and arts organisations.Encourage each artist to develop and increase their business management skills through:Price structureProfessional arts management through quality control and storage, supply and demand, Financial management, small business management including business plans, taxation and intellectual property issues.Provide the opportunity for artists to:Increase the artists profileMaintain a regular incomeExtend their arts practice from the scale of their arts and crafts in a retail environmentDevelop the artists professional skills through the training and creation of other merchandise showcasing their artwork (i.e.
How to create and reproduce framed paintings; posters; artwork on didgeridoos; boomerangs; printed textile products; greeting cards; placemats; bags; tee-shirts; jewellery).Overall management for Gidji Art retail and training outlet.Supervise additional training for staff.Implement prevocational training.Engage mainstream arts industry – Engaging with local council(s) to increase profiling, marketability and promotion of Indigenous artists.Develop an authenticity template for Central Queensland artists.Assist industry in the region to develop marketing systems and brands.Identify export industry opportunities through arts business workshops, art skills transfer and specialist training.Provide monthly written support to the Managing Director.Manage staff under the responsibility of the Arts Industry Development Officer.Mandatory Requirement/Special ConditionsPreferably 3 years relevant experience.Own reliable transport is required.An open class driver's licence is essential.Your application will include the following questions:Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia?#J-18808-Ljbffr
