We are looking for commercial lawyers to provide practical advice and work autonomously as well as part of the broader legal team.Say goodbye to billable hours and hello to a true-work life balance!We are very open to discussing the ability to:Have flexible start and finish times (with flexibility to change as suits you)Attend the office only if (and when) it suits you (for example if you wish to enjoy the social benefits of working from your local BDO office on a particular day, without expectation to do so)How your impact will be feltWorking with the General Counsel, Head of Legal and the legal team, you will have experience in commercial and corporate law that allows you to provide legal and strategic advice to your colleagues in the business. Prior inhouse experience is not a pre-requisite to this role.You will be involved in a variety of interesting and challenging matters and your responsibilities will include: -Advising on and drafting commercial and client contracts (both external terms and BDO terms).Advising on other legal agreements including non-disclosure agreementsProviding ad hoc legal advice across the firmAssisting with legal, regulatory and compliance mattersAdvising on employment law mattersAssisting with investigations, disputes and litigation (including briefing external lawyers where required)Supporting the firm's legal frameworks (e.g. review of policies & procedures, providing legal training)Supporting special projects and initiatives across the firmDevelopment of legal knowledge resources and streamlining work processes in the legal teamDo you have the following?You enjoy working in a collaborative environment and have solid legal skills and commercial acumen as well as the following:Bachelor of Laws and admitted to practice in an Australian State or TerritoryMinimum 4 years PQEDemonstrated commercial and corporate experienceEmployment law, litigation and regulatory (e.g. ASIC) experience will be highly considered, although not essentialExperience in applying those skills to achieve practical solutions for the business, appropriately balancing legal risk with commercial objectivesA mindset of innovation and change: the ability to develop ideas, challenging the status quo as appropriate, and consulting with others to produce viable commercial solutionsHigh developed communication and well-rounded interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and confidence of colleagues and stakeholders across different levels and locations.Agile and adaptable, able to manage competing priorities and capable of managing legal matters of all sizes and levels of complexity.Prior inhouse experience is not a pre-requisite to this role.What we will offer youFlexible working arrangementsContinuing professional development opportunities through the BDO learning academyMembership discounts and corporate travel ratesA comprehensive flexible working arrangementA range of Health and Wellbeing initiativesA number of Leave options to suit your lifestyleRewards & Recognition programOngoing events and corporate sportsDress for your day policyCorporate rates and discounts across a variety of servicesAbout BDOBDO is a trusted adviser to clients looking for audit, tax and advisory services.
