The Role
Reporting to the CEO, this is a broad-ranging role that covers:
Legal Advisory:
Providing in-house legal advice on a wide range of commercial and regulatory compliance matters, including corporate governance, acquisitions and disposals, services contracts, trade agreements, leasing, employment law, industrial relations, insurance and risk management;Collaboration:
Working closely with Risk, Compliance, and HR teams to ensure alignment on strategic and operational goals;Leadership:
Managing and mentoring a small legal team, fostering growth and development;Stakeholder Engagement:
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including government bodies, financiers, landlords/tenants, insurers, and external legal advisors;Risk Management:
Overseeing regulatory risk activities, ensuring all policies and procedures are maintained and serving as a member of the Risk Committee.About You
This role will suit a versatile and agile lawyer with:Admission as a lawyer, barrister or solicitor of the Supreme Court of a State or Territory in Australia, plus an unrestricted practicing certificate;Minimum of 5+ years' equivalent experience in private practice or in-house legal roles;Broad experience in corporate governance, commercial law, intellectual property leasing (commercial and retail)/property law and employment/industrial law and general litigation;Understanding of the petroleum and retail industries;Strong commercial acumen and a solutions-focused mindset;Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management;Proficiency in managing complex legal risks and ensuring compliance in a fast-paced environment;Proactive with a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to deadlines whilst efficiently managing workloads.Flexible arrangements are available, including part-time hours, making this role suitable for professionals seeking work-life balance.
