About the Role: We are looking for a dynamic and experienced In-House Counsel to join our Legal team.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage and oversee a diverse range of legal matters at Affinity Education Group (AEG), including acquisitions, divestments, leasing, and broader corporate and commercial issues.
Key Responsibilities: Assist the General Counsel and Senior In-House Counsel in managing the acquisition of new childcare centres and divestment of existing ones, ensuring compliance and smooth transitions. Provide expert legal advice on acquisitions, contracts, heads of agreements, and government regulations. Ensure legal compliance across all business activities, offering guidance on lease matters, disputes, and contract negotiations. Review and negotiate third-party supplier contracts to secure favourable terms. Offer general legal representation, including conducting necessary legal research. Collaborate with external lawyers on Intellectual Property matters and support insurance-related requirements. Brief external counsel for legal proceedings as required and manage relationships with external advisors. Maintain and update legal procedures on Promapp and oversee contract details and key dates via Xakia. Participate in internal meetings, offering legal insights to support Senior Leadership Team decisions. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor of Law (LLB) or equivalent. At least 4 years of legal practice, with a focus on commercial and/or property law. In-house legal experience, preferably within a dispersed or multi-location organisation. Proven experience with acquisitions and divestments. Strong project management skills, with the ability to conceptualise and execute legal initiatives. Expertise in navigating regulatory compliance frameworks. Demonstrated ability to identify conflicts, risks, and potential outcomes in legal matters.
