Job Description (Up to 100% work from home)We have a robust pipeline of projects in the design, development, and construction of defense, mining, and land development projects both in Australia and overseas. We are currently seeking a qualified In-house Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, particularly within the engineering consulting and construction sectors. This role will be pivotal in managing our accounting and financial processes and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Brisbane based location is preferred. However, candidates from Australian wide locations will be considered.
ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Operations Manager, this position will encompass, but not be limited to, the following duties:
Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, cash flow statements, and income statements to senior management.Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Support project managers, project controllers, group, and team leads in monitoring project and departmental budgets, providing variance analysis and recommendations.Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and coded in the company's accounting system. Reconcile bank transactions.Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage and oversee the processing of accounts payable and receivable, including invoice approvals, payment disbursement, and collections.Cash Flow Management: Monitor company cash flow, ensure efficient cash utilisation, and manage banking relationships.Payroll Management: Handle payroll processing, ensuring compliance with local laws and tax regulations.Tax Compliance: Ensure timely preparation and submission of all statutory tax reports and returns, including BAS/IAS, company income tax, and payroll tax, in line with local regulations.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry-specific (e.g., QBCC) accounting, reporting, and payment regulations and requirements.Financial Systems & Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and improvement of accounting systems and integration with ERP system, company policies and procedures.Preferred Skills and QualificationsThe successful candidate will possess the following experience and qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldChartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification is mandatoryMinimum of 5 years of accounting experience. Experience in the consulting and construction industry will be advantageous but not mandatory.Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and cost control.Experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero or MYOB).Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Competency in PowerBI will be advantageous.Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work under pressure.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.You will be joining an emerging leading company with a very flexible work-from-home culture.
