Aboriginal Support Workers - Targeted Positions
ABOUT THE ROLE
At GCAHAC, our Support Workers work towards supporting vulnerable families who are at risk of further escalation in the child protection system because we believe that supporting families before a crisis improves family resilience and reduces harm to children.
You will be a self-directed person passionate about working directly with families experiencing trauma and committed to providing the best level of care and support possible to our families.
Essential criteria
Minimum Cert III in Community Services or similar qualification
Have an understanding of the impacts of intergenerational trauma and the affects this has on Aboriginal persons and their families.
Availability to work flexible working hours including shift work, weekends and awake and sleepover shifts.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of trauma-informed care.
Current unrestricted drivers' licence and Reliable vehicle
Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
Current Working with Children Check.
Willingness to obtain a national criminal history check.
Desirable criteria
Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
Note - Aboriginality is a genuine occupational requirement and falls within the exceptions set out in section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW)
