The Location:
Dreaming of pure air, long summer nights, some of Australia's best beaches and a pristine environment; yet don't want to lose all the benefits of living in a capital city? Then Adelaide is for you. Working in Adelaide allows a laid- back lifestyle, and the ability to create more work-life balance to enjoy all the wonderful things Adelaide and its surroundings has to offer.
Adelaide is known for its exquisite food and wine (the home to Australia's best wine), its thriving laneway bars, interesting array of boutique shops, its coastline and hills and for its many festivals and sporting events; think the world famous, Fringe Festival (the southern hemisphere's largest open- access festival), Clipsal 500, WOMAD and Laneway festival, just to mention a few.
For the nature lovers, there are over 20 dazzling beaches to choose from and an array of national parks to go mountain biking through. Got a few days off? Why not visit one of the truly amazing landscapes such as Wilpena Pound and the Flinders Ranges, Anna creek in the Painted Hills, the Pink Lakes, the Umpherston sinkhole on the Limestone Coast, or the Bunda Cliffs on the Eyre Peninsula, Kangaroo Island- all just a few hours drive away.
This coastal capital city is very culturally diverse with 30 per cent of the population being foreign-born. This vibrant and multicultural population is evident in the wide range of food, culture, and world- class events the city has to offer.
If you have a family or looking to start one, then Adelaide is a great choice for many reasons. Adelaide offers some of Australia's best facilities for education. From public to private schools, primary to senior, universities to training facilities. Adelaide's education ranks well above international league tables and Adelaide is now enjoying its reputation as one of the world's great university cities.
Adelaide and the surrounding suburbs offer the perfect opportunity to raise a family. Being the third- cheapest capital city in Australia, means you can be close enough to the hustle and bustle, yet far enough away to escape to nature. Most suburbs are close to the CBD, so commuting is not really a factor. The outdoor lifestyle brings a chance to nurture a love of physical activity and nature, no matter how young or old.
South Australia now has more people in work than ever before and the lowest unemployment rate since records began, meaning finding a job won't stand in the way for loved ones to join you.
It comes as no surprise to locals that Adelaide is considered Australia's most liveable city and the third most liveable city in the world, according to The Economist Intelligence Unit's Global Liveability Index.
