The Role
The Defence Digital Group's (DDG) Commercial Branch is seeking talented and motivated individuals at the APS 6 level with the drive, integrity, and passion to support a range of commercial activities across DDG. The scope of the roles includes:
Providing dedicated and direct support for large ICT Program/s of work in Australia;Providing commercial assurance and advice for procurements and contract management within the ICT Program;Coordination with Defence projects and other stakeholders to ensure rapid transition to acquisition for capabilities within the ICT Program;Procurement of ICT support services and other enabling agreements;Engaging specialist advice from within and outside Defence, including price and cost analysis, probity advice and legal services, as required.Candidates may be able to commence on a Baseline Security Clearance. Ongoing employment will be subject to obtaining and maintaining a Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our TeamThe DDG's Commercial Branch delivers high-quality procurement, contracting, and commercial services and support for large ICT Programs. The Branch provides specialist procurement and commercial expertise to develop, deliver and manage procurement and contracting and advises on policy interpretation and its application. The Branch also manages relationships with key commercial, policy, legal, probity, and delivery stakeholders.
Working in the DDG, you will be contributing your expertise to some of the most technically demanding and complex ICT transformation projects being undertaken in Australia. DDG is transforming Defence's ICT capabilities. We build and maintain critical infrastructure and systems, such as classified and secure military systems. We manage one of the largest ICT networks in Australia and provide a modern, secure, sustainable, and scalable information environment to enable current and future military and business operations.

A thorough understanding of the Commonwealth Procurement Framework, procedures, and compliance obligations to provide guidance to business areas within DDG;Demonstrated problem-solving skills to interpret, make recommendations, and provide advice on complex commercial issues, ensuring compliance with legal principles, legislation, policies and procedures, and commercial risk and performance frameworks;A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, to deliver procurement-related documentation including correspondence, reports, plans, strategies, performance reviews, approaches to market, contracts, and contract change proposals, and other commercial documentation;An ability to build relationships, engage and negotiate with clients and stakeholders and respond to complex enquiries and contract management issues, taking the initiative to identify and proceed with appropriate courses of action;The ability to understand and contribute to the application of strategic thinking across commercial activities;Flexibility and adaptability and a willingness to lead change initiatives and challenge traditional ways of doing business;Trustworthiness and integrity at the highest level; andAn ability to grow and lead teams, managing self-improvement and professional development as well as the professional development of your team members.Security Clearance:
