We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Natural Perils, Modelling, Pricing & Engineering team as a Senior Analyst, Climate Metrics. As a Climate Metrics Senior Analyst, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the modelling of Insurance Associated Emissions and climate-driven changes to natural peril risk. You'll be responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining methodologies, processes, and reporting. Your work will provide valuable insights for business planning and portfolio management, as well as documentation for audit purposes.
In this role, you'll calculate and document metrics related to the group's Insurance Associated Emissions (IAE) and physical climate risks. You'll undertake data sourcing, processing, documentation, and reporting with a focus on clarity and repeatability. Implementing well-documented methodologies, you'll prepare metrics and figures to support public disclosures, internal reporting, and audit documentation. Additionally, you'll provide insights for business planning and portfolio management, ensuring compliance with IAG's Group Model Governance Policy.
This role offers you the opportunity to work with large and complex datasets, utilizing statistical software packages such as R, SAS, and Python, as well as database management tools. You'll be part of a team that values innovation and experimentation, allowing you to adapt and create value in a fast-changing environment. Your ability to turn technical knowledge into easily understood narratives will be key in communicating complex analyses.
This is a permanent full-time position with hybrid working conditions, available at any of our IAG offices across Australia with a preference for those based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney).
About You
To be successful in this role you'll ideally have the following skills and experience:
Experience in managing large and complex datasets. Proficiency in statistical software packages (R, SAS, Python) and database management tools. Experience in utilizing data for re/insurance analyses and model development. Ability to prepare technical documentation and communicate complex analyses clearly. Adaptability and a willingness to experiment and learn new skills. Tertiary qualification in climate or natural sciences, actuarial science, data science, or a related field.
