We will teach you the how, you will bring the enthusiasm! What you'll do: This is a new role in our Water Management Team where you will learn how to provide operational support to the team in the day-to-day collection of hydrological, meteorological, environmental, and asset monitoring data services.
You will be supported with on-the-job and formal technical training to ensure you are an integral member of the team. You will be provided with professional development opportunities so you can work towards becoming a certified practicing hydrographer with the Australian Hydrographers Association.
What will your week look like? If you like variety and being outside, keep reading. Each week will be a bit different, so you will need to be a bit flexible. Some weeks could include multiple days in the field carrying and using hydrographer monitoring equipment. Other weeks would consist of inputting the data collected back at the Moonah office or assisting with preparation of future installations.
You will get to travel the state, so you need a driver's licence, and you will always be working with at least one other person when in the field, providing amazing opportunities to learn from dedicated mentors.
What you'll bring: We will teach you what you need to know, but there are a few things that will set you apart:
You may have already started studying in a technical field related to hydrographic, hydrometric or data capture fields. You might also be studying within the civil, water, electrical or mechanical fields at university or TAFE. You have experience working outdoors in a range of weather conditions such as a wildlife guide, bushwalking or other construction work. You will need to demonstrate an appropriate level of fitness enabling you to embrace and enjoy the outdoor work you would do. Confidence around water and ability to swim. Willingness to complete a Cert IV Water Resources or Civil Engineering or Electronics at TAFE. Construction White Card or willingness to complete the 1-day training to get it.
