About the Role: The Hydroecologist will work predominately on the rainfall-recharge/rainfall-runoff project to provide professional hydroecological advice and analysis by undertaking investigations, assessments and modelling using existing tools and applications.
The role focuses on providing advice on matters relating to the water planning and management of the State's surface water resources, supporting projects in various surface water systems across the State, and providing hydroecological input into key Department for Environment and Water initiatives.
About the Project: The rainfall-recharge/rainfall-runoff project is a Commonwealth funded project designed to measure the recharge or runoff which can be expected for a groundwater system or surface water catchment for a given amount of rainfall on an annual basis.
The rainfall-recharge/rainfall-runoff relationships are simple yet effective and fundamental tools used in describing the hydrological behaviour of groundwater systems and surface water catchments.
The project is designed to update or develop new relationships that account for the impacts of climate change across the state and will be used to inform water management policies across the water sector in South Australia.What can we offer you! Essential Qualifications: Tertiary degree in engineering, natural resources, science or equivalent, with emphasis on hydroecology or aquatic ecology is essential.
Special Conditions: May be required to participate in fire management or associated duties.A current class "C" driver's licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential.May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel and work outside of the normal hours of work.Remuneration: PO1 - $68,478 min - $83,594 max p.a
