Who are you? You are a driven and enthusiastic Senior Mechanical Engineer with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, bringing over 10 years of extensive technical experience. You have a proven track record in leading and executing successful refurbishment projects, particularly within the power generation industry or involving large-scale rotating machinery. Your ability to quickly understand complex systems and their interconnections across disciplines, such as electrical systems and civil infrastructure, ensures overall asset effectiveness.
As a leader, you excel in team management, mentorship, and fostering collaboration within small multidisciplinary project teams. You are an effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills, adept at building and maintaining diverse relationships. You are in a position to travel as whilst you will be primarily office based, you will be required to travel to sites across Tasmania frequently and during major projects be available to work on site for up to a month.
About the role: To put it simply… you will lead a small project team to achieve successful end-to-end delivery of our Major Works refurbishment program. This will involve supporting the design and delivery of replacements of hydropower assets that have been operating for over 100 years! As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be:
Overseeing engineering governance and ensuring compliance with both internal and external standards. Managing and prioritising engineering tasks for a small project team, including efficient allocation of team resources. Reviewing project documents and providing recommendations for final engineering sign-off. Developing strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders, such as Production and Operations teams, principal and specialist engineers, project managers, and site-based colleagues.
