Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer (Drill and Blast), you will be responsible for supporting the mining operation with drill and blast planning, create effective drill patterns, electronic and standard initiation sequences and charging designs. Manage vibrations around sensitive receptors and explore new ways to increase drill and blast productivity.
About the Role
Provide leadership and be a role model for safety on site.
Produce drill and blast designs that promote the safe and efficient mining of waste and coal.
Provide expertise to optimise site blasting planning processes and manage environmental restrictions.
Develop and implement a quality control process for all drill and blast activities.
Design and analyse blasting performance throughout the mining cycle.
Ad hoc project work relating to drill and blast.
Liaise with various stakeholders regarding drill and blast matters.
Roster and Location
Monday to Friday roster
Based on site at HVO (off Lemington Road)
About You
Formal qualifications in mining engineering combined with experience in drill and blast, preferably in open cut mining.
A commitment to the best practice of health, safety environment and community at all times.
Excellent planning, organising and influencing skills.
Experience with Vulcan, Deswik or other mine design software would be highly desirable.
Prior experience in Mining, Civil or Heavy Industries is preferred with a drive to develop a career in Open Cut Mining.
Previous experience with scheduling in the mining environment (advantageous).
Ability to succinctly develop quality reports and be able to communicate findings with a variety of key stakeholders including Senior Leadership Team.
High level communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
Lateral thinking skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in the workplace.
