Job Title: HV Engineer – Permanent Role
Location: Knowsley, UK (with UK and international travel as required)
Salary: Competitive, around £50,000 (negotiable based on experience)

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced HV Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis, bringing expertise in designing, maintaining, and overseeing the installation and commissioning of high voltage equipment across energy projects. This role involves ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of high voltage systems for power generation assets both in the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities Design & Engineering: Develop high voltage electrical systems for power generation projects. Prepare technical specifications, single line diagrams (SLDs), and layouts for HV infrastructure. Integrate HV systems with low voltage and auxiliary systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, grid codes, and safety protocols. Project Management: Lead and manage HV projects from concept through to installation, testing, and commissioning. Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, and field technicians to ensure projects meet design specifications and quality standards. Provide technical guidance throughout construction and installation phases. Compliance & Safety: Ensure all HV systems comply with national and international electrical regulations and safety standards. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols to mitigate high voltage hazards. Maintain accurate documentation of HV installations, modifications, and maintenance activities. Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with advancements in HV technology and best practices. Recommend improvements to enhance system efficiency, safety, and reliability. Qualifications & Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Chartered Electrical Engineer status. At least 10 years of HV engineering experience, preferably with a NERS-accredited organization in the energy or power generation sector. Strong knowledge of HV systems (transformers, switchgear, protection relays, cabling). Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD. Familiarity with fault finding, testing, and maintenance of HV equipment. Desirable Skills Experience in power generation, CHP, BESS, or hydrogen projects is a plus. Ability to conduct Power System studies and generate reports. Proactive, detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving and communication skills. Personal Attributes
