Who we are Established in 1994, Pilbara Meta Maya Regional Aboriginal Corporation (PMMRAC) is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers essential services (power, water and municipal) and community services (environmental health, housing and accommodation facilities) to remote Aboriginal communities across the Pilbara, Gascoyne, and Mid-West regions of Western Australia.
Additionally, we operate Meta Maya Environmental Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of PMMRAC that provides expert environmental consultancy and testing services for Asbestos and Hazardous materials.
Our operations run out of Port Hedland, Karratha, Meekatharra and Perth, and our environmental consultancy is nationwide with a laboratory based in Burswood, Perth.
Why we need you As our business continues to expand its operations and environmental consultancy services, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Manager to help take the business to the next level and prepare for future growth.
If you are a Perth candidate, you will have the ability to travel to Port Hedland and Karratha throughout the year to foster positive relationships with our operation's teams.
For candidates located in the Pilbara, you can be based in either office location.
The role This role offers you the opportunity to impact our culture, drive talent and development, and support the leadership team.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will manage a small HR and recruitment team and be responsible for the delivery of HR functions to assist the organisation in achieving its operational and strategic objectives.
You will lead continued development of organisational culture and engagement strategies and be accountable for the provision of best practice support and advice to management and the executive team on all HR/ER related matters.
Key accountabilities Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organisation's HR and talent strategy for current and future talent needs, retention, and succession planning.Oversee the end-to-end recruitment process and employee life cycle.Manage employee relations, workers' compensation, and provide guidance to managers and the executive team on HR/ER related matters.Implement performance management systems and support talent development initiatives.Ensure the organisation adheres to federal and state legislation, and regulations that govern employment law, workers' compensation and long service leave.Analyse HR metrics to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.Conduct remuneration benchmarking and advise on market trends.Research, recommend and implement best practice HR Projects that are innovative and aligned with future business needs.Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, investigations and terminations and provide support and coaching to managers to ensure performance management is executed in accordance with due process, policy and procedures.Determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale, motivation, engagement and capacity to implement change.Skills and Experience Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or Organisational Development.Demonstrated experience in an HR management role or similar.Strong knowledge of Australian employment laws and regulations.Demonstrated experience in developing, driving and promoting key projects.Ability to develop effective working relationships and demonstrate collaborative approaches to a diverse range of stakeholders.Extensive knowledge and experience in strategic and operational HR, including employment law, compensation, recruitment, employee relations, workers compensation, and employee engagement and development.Experience recruiting labour and skilled trades (preferable).Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of the socioeconomic status and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply.
