My client, one of Australia's leading Tier 3 builders is looking for an experienced HSEQ Manager to join the team. Reporting directly to the Operations Construction Manager you will develop and manage all health, safety, environment and quality imitative and strategies while supporting and guiding operational staff through HSEQ issues.
The Company A company with over 15 years industry exposure and a true Victoria industry leader in the commercial construction/fit out space. Projects varying in size, valuing anywhere from $100k - $30m. A solid builder who also has a presence in the Cladding, Civil, Industrial, Maintenance and insurance sectors. Responsibilities Review current HSEQ standards within the organisation. Develop an in depth understanding of current HSEQ performance strengths and weaknesses. Design an HSEQ strategy to focus on lifting the organisation's HSEQ culture and performance. Provide strategic HSEQ advice to the Managing Director and senior leadership team. Develop metrics to better measure HSEQ performance and provide monthly reports. Maintain all ISO, FSE and other existing HSEQ related accreditations. Review existing processes and procedures to identify opportunities for streamlining or improvement. Identify strategic HSEQ risks and implement mitigation strategies. Develop the profile of HSEQ within the organisation to escalate the prioritisation of related matters. Spread HSEQ understanding into all areas of the organisation. Work to develop the organisation's HSEQ culture in a manner that encourages employees to improve performance in HSEQ. Implement systems and initiatives to improve performance in HSEQ. Regularly visit all sites to assist project management teams. Be present at HSEQ related events, particularly those that present significant risk. Manage, develop and provide leadership to site safety supervisors and officers. Provide clear guidance on acceptable HSEQ standards for all employees. Behave as a cultural leader for the organisation through the emulation of our core value of Humility. Lead HSEQ related workshops, training sessions and toolbox meetings. Oversee subcontractor documentation to ensure compliance with minimum standards. Act as a sounding board for HSEQ related concerns. Review accident, illness, incident and WorkSafe reports to ensure all necessary action has been taken to best prevent re-occurrence and communicate learnings to the organisation. Oversee the organisation's worker's compensation scheme and rehabilitation service.
Requirements of the role Tertiary qualifications in OHS. Computer skills and experience with HSEQ systems. Excellent understanding of construction processes. Excellent understanding of plant safety requirements. Excellent communication skills. Excellent documentation management skills. Mastery of construction related safety legislation. Mastery of construction related industrial relations. Able to communicate effectively to large groups of workers. Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Proficient in Hammertech and Procore Safety auditing experience for commercial construction projects.
