Amazon Australia is growing and we are seeking an experienced HR Risk & Compliance Manager to join our dynamic People, Experience and Technology (PXT) Operations team in Australia.
In this pivotal role, you will manage HR operational risk across Amazon's Operations in Australia.
This includes performing Compliance Audits and Inspections designed to validate remediation activities, test the effectiveness of key compliance controls across HR services, and conclude on the state of compliance.
Reporting to the PXT Director, you will leverage your deep expertise in Australian labor regulations and best practices to transform our people processes and deliver a world-class employee experience for our operations workforce.
You will be responsible for helping execute the HR Risk and Compliance team's risk-based annual plan, including performing individual audit planning, scoping, fieldwork, reporting, and remediation activities involved in the execution of the program.
This involves conducting compliance audits that include documenting HR compliance processes and controls, specifically focused on payroll; identifying key control points and determining how to test them; performing control validation and testing; drawing conclusions on control effectiveness and the state of compliance; recommending actions to remediate identified deficiencies; creating written reports for stakeholders and senior leadership; and following up on remediation items.
This role will interact with multiple stakeholder teams like technology, Employee relations, legal, HR business partners and offshore teams based in US, India, Australia and Philippines.
The right person will demonstrate proven program management experience to manage numerous stakeholders; understand how to evaluate control effectiveness; understand levels of potential risk and how to address them; provide in-depth consultation; be able to deliver multiple high priority projects at the same time; and have the ability to synthesize diverse data to identify trends, draw conclusions, and prioritize remediation efforts, using risk management concepts.
The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Key job responsibilitiesStrong understanding of Australian legislation, labor laws and experience in working on Modern Awards.Experience in working with Australian payroll teams on projects that involve / impact the pay for employees or the accounting process.Perform deep dive analysis to establish opportunities for improvement to streamline and continue to improve our payroll processes.Understand and anticipate the downstream impacts resulting from process, policy, system or legislation changes.Experience in execution of a compliance audit program for HR processes.Coordinating with Legal, ER, payroll, technology and risk and compliance teams in audit planning and scoping.Continually strive to improve efficiency and effectiveness of existing systems and look for enhancements related to current systems and procedures based on KAIZEN and LEAN methodologies.Provide clear communication to partners and employees when researching and resolving inquiries.Track, measure and report on the Service Level Agreement (SLA) metrics.Demonstrate a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.Measuring and concluding on control effectiveness and the state of compliance; and in alignment with local laws and regulations.Identification, review, and prioritization of risks to support risk-based mitigation recommendations.Coordination of cross-functional business continuity and disaster recovery teams.Implementation and administration of a business continuity management system.Development of long-term goals, training, metrics and key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSBachelors of equivalent degree in accounts, legal or HR.5+ years of compliance, audit or other related experience.3+ years of program management experience, including change management, project management, stakeholder management, user training and communications.3+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience.Experience managing Australia payroll function in a medium to large operational organization.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMBA, or experience in KAIZEN and LEAN Methodologies.Experience in working with labor law and regulations specially in a warehouse set-up.Proven track record of sound decision making, taking ownership and delivering results within a company's risk appetite.Excellent written and verbal communication skills that convey complex ideas in a simplified manner.Ability to build strong relations and influence others while working in a cross functional environment, including senior members of the business.Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction and strategy.Acknowledgement of countryIn the spirit of reconciliation, Amazon acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community.
