About usThe Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS, or 'the Institute') is the Australian Government's key research body in the area of family wellbeing.
It is an independent statutory authority established in 1980 under the Family Law Act 1975.
The Institute is an agency within the portfolio of the Department of Social Services (DSS).
We conduct research, provide independent advice, and communicate findings to policymakers, service providers, and the community about factors affecting family wellbeing.
Our work builds an evidence base about 'what works for families'.
Through our research, we contribute to developing policy and practice to promote the wellbeing of families in Australia.
Our teamThe HR team is responsible for the delivery of strategic and operational HR programs and activities that support the achievement of the Institute's business objectives.
The current HR priorities are:
Building workforce plan, including employee value proposition.Delivering diversity strategies to build organizational culture.Developing HR data to contribute to our strategic planning.We have a comprehensive work plan to achieve our objectives in these priority areas, which are linked to the Institute's Strategic Directions.

Position RequirementsCurrent HR initiatives have a strong focus on HR data, recruitment strategy, culture, engagement, diversity, workplace policies, and change management.
Operational involvement includes management of complex staffing cases and oversight of recruitment, reporting, payroll, and induction.
This is a varied and challenging professional HR role where collaboration is key to the success of the team.
This position is required to actively seek feedback from stakeholders to evaluate workplace programs for effectiveness and impact.
The key duties of the position include:Deliver HR initiatives based on agreed organisational priorities including leading, coordinating, and tracking the work of team members as required.Take responsibility for planned projects to improve organisational culture, diversity, and HR data capability.Oversee the provision of relevant HR work plans including psychosocial action plan, gender equality strategy, census action plan, and innovation.Oversee HR reporting to support effective decision-making by managers, senior leadership, and HR and ensure the Institute's compliance with external reporting obligations.Contribute to continuous improvement in HR policy and programs and the development and implementation of policies and strategies designed to build organisational capability, support employee wellbeing, and culture.Support the day-to-day operations of the HR function by contributing to the relationship between AIFS and the external payroll provider and providing advice to the HR Officer when appropriate.Support organisational change management initiatives.Provide high-quality advice and guidance to the executive team, managers, and staff.Collaborate with the AIFS Privacy team to incorporate privacy practices into work undertaken within the team.Key Selection CriteriaProfessional HR expertiseUnderstanding our organisationDelivering on HR objectives and achieving resultsRelationships and interpersonal skillsExcellent Communication SkillsStrong LeadershipValues and integrityFor a comprehensive overview of the selection criteria, please see the Position Description for more information.

TermsThe HR Project Lead role will be offered as a full-time ongoing position at the Executive Level 1 level.
This will be with a salary range of between $112,691 to $124,447 depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant, plus 15.4% superannuation.
