The Australian Market is made up of Commercial (Sales), Consumer Marketing, Supply Operations, Finance, Corporate Relations, Legal, HR, and Controls & Compliance. The teams (approx. 350 FTE) are based across three key locations with Sydney as the main location for commercial and corporate functions, along two manufacturing sites in Huntingwood and Bundaberg. In addition, there are employees reporting into our global functions based out of Australia whom the HR function supports as well. The Human Resources Director (HRD) role sits at the heart of this, ensuring we have the right conditions in place to develop and release the potential of our talent, our leaders, and their teams. The purpose of the role is to partner with the business and lead the HR team, enabling growth and performance. The Diageo Performance Ambition clearly outlines the business strategy. The role of HR is to ensure the right leadership, culture, and organisation model and that we have the right talent with the required skills and capabilities to brilliantly execute the strategy. What will the role be like for you? The HRD's remit covers the Australia market partnering effectively with the Australia Leadership Team and the broader stakeholders in Asia-Pacific, Global Functions and Global Supply organisation to drive the short and long-term growth agenda, delivering sustainable commercial success of the Australia business and drive a progressive workplace for the future. The HRD reports directly to the Australia Managing Director, leading the HR team in market covering Business Partnering, Capability, and Payroll. In addition, Diageo HR operates a Centre of Excellence model for functions like Talent Engagement, Reward, and HR Shared Services. These all have dedicated resources supporting the Australia Market, with an indirect reporting line to the HRD. Key work dimensions Partner with the market leadership team to build and deliver an ambitious and Disruptive Approach to Talent through talent plans which include robust succession planning to future proof the business, resourcing for our biggest opportunities at pace, strong proactive pipeline of talent, leveraging our employer brand proposition and creating exciting accelerated career path for people which strengthens our talent bench. Creates an inclusive culture where each employee feels valued for their uniqueness and are able to maximize their impact. Partnering with ERG groups in the market, the HRD will lead on Inclusion and Diversity strategy to deliver our ambitious Society 2030 goals and ensure this is integrated through our hiring strategies, leadership development programmes, external partnerships and progressive policies and practices. Drive an agile, stretching, fast-pace and focused performance culture and organisation by leveraging dial-up behaviours and leadership at all levels to deliver sustainable growth and fulfilling employee experiences. Act as a custodian of Diageo Values and Reputation. This is about ensuring compliance and ethics standards are embedded and championed in the business. Drive effectiveness across the HR organisation to ensure we maximize the skills and capability and create capacity in organisation by brilliant basics and optimizing the partnership between in market HR business partners, COEs (like reward, talent engagement) and the shared service center. What will you bring to the table? 15+ years in HR roles, 5+ years within multinational companies leading all areas of the HR function. Strong experience in talent management, leadership and capability development across a large scale organisation. Experience in defining and leading the employee relations agenda across an integrated organisation. Have affinity and experience with leading a progressive I&D agenda. Be real change agent experienced in driving and executing transformation in partnership with senior leaders, delivering enhanced business performance outcomes. Be highly commercial with a strong understanding of P&L. Be entrepreneurial and courageous – have an innate curiosity to understand what drives the business and add value through bringing an external perspective.
