ABOUT THE BRANCH
The Human Resources (HR) Branch is responsible for strategic and operational human resource management activities including:
Drafting, consulting, implementing and reviewing HR policies and procedures Employment-conditions advice and services Case management advice and support Work, health and safety, rehabilitation and workers compensation matters Recruitment, mobility and resource management Entry Level Programs SES Unit Workforce reporting and planning Enhancing organisational culture Diversity initiatives Capability development Performance management Learning and development ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The HR Assist team is at the front line of Human Resources (HR) for the Department of Finance. We deliver timely and accurate responses to various client groups and support our people across the country with a strong focus on customer service and building trusting relationships with employees and business areas.
The HR advisor role will work within a small team to provide advice and support to the Department of Finance employees in relation to their conditions, leave and entitlements.
We offer general and specialist HR advice for policies, payroll, conditions of employment and guidance material, along with key business improvement activities, relating to the delivery of HR services.
We are seeking candidates who are motivated self-starters with demonstrated initiative, organisational skills and attention to detail to fill an expected vacancy. Candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
As a small team, the successful candidate may also have the opportunity to build and embed their skills across other areas of interest within the HR function.

ELIGIBILITY ADVICE & CANDIDATE NOTES Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing. Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated in the downloadable job pack. All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement. This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing. Roles may be offered as either ongoing or non-ongoing subject to operational requirements. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for a specified term of up to 12 months. Specified term vacancies may be extended up to a maximum period of 18 months.
