Position SummaryThe Housing Support Worker will perform accommodation management activities aligned with the Policy and Procedures of the Community Housing Program, and the Northern Territory Residential Tenancy Act. The position acts as a support to residents and tenants residing in Community Housing properties throughout the Katherine area.
Resident and Tenancy support will be provided in collaboration with the Coordinator Ormonde House and the Tenancy Officer Katherine through appropriate referral and advice to providers of specialist service providers who can engage residents/tenants with wrap around services and supports.
Key AccountabilitiesOperationsProactively promote our Housing services in Katherine.Assist the Coordinator and Tenancy Officer with interviewing applicants to assess housing eligibility, manage expectations, and collate all necessary documentation.Assist the Coordinator and Tenancy Officer to ensure all tenancy documentation, including rent payment setup, bond lodgment, leases, condition reports, and other records are completed as required.Support the Coordinator and Tenancy Officer to conduct required inspections of housing properties to ensure tenancy standards are maintained.Work in collaboration with the Coordinator and the Tenancy Officer to maintain rent arrears.Complete maintenance requests as required across housing properties.Work in partnership with residents and tenants to address behavioral concerns or other issues that may be in breach of their service or tenancy agreements, service agreement, and/or House Rules.Relationship BuildingWork in partnership with Ormonde House staff, Tenancy Officer, and Asset and Property Maintenance Officer to improve the quality of services provided.Undertake a wide range of networking and relationship-building activities within the community to develop strong referral internal and external pathways.Work in consultation with the Housing team in Darwin to share experiences and provide support to each other.Additional Position RequirementsCommunicate effectively with the Housing Services Manager and team regarding operations, successes, and challenges and contribute to the ongoing process of continual improvement and effective teamwork.Ensure all administrative tasks and paperwork are completed in a timely and professional manner.Work is to be performed in accordance with all Society policies and procedures and legislative requirements including workplace health and safety and environmental responsibilities.Actively participate in staff training (which may require travel to Darwin) and development that includes performance reviews.Acknowledgement that throughout the course of employment employees may be requested to work at different Society locations due to operational requirements.May be required to work flexible hours to meet set deadlines and objectives.Understanding that duties and responsibilities identified in the position descriptions are only an overview of expectations when the document is developed, and the position may mature throughout the employee relationship including the duties and responsibilities required to be performed.Committed and dedicated to delivering a professional service.A demonstrated passion for working to shape a more just and compassionate society.
