Your Opportunity Mission Australia Supported Accommodation - Darwin Region Accommodation Management Service aims to support single men and women facing homelessness or at risk of homelessness by facilitating sustainable, long-term housing solutions.
Through intensive case management, the service assists individuals in accessing supported accommodation and fosters pathways to employment and community engagement.
The Housing Officer collaborates closely with program case managers to onboard individuals into the service, providing comprehensive tenancy support services tailored to those with complex needs.
This includes managing tenancies and administering necessary processes to equip individuals with essential tenancy skills before transitioning them to private or public housing options.
Your key responsibilities will be to: Conduct tenancy inductions, ensuring all required documentation is completed thoroughly and accurately.
Perform regular property inspections and complete associated documentation.
Coordinate routine property maintenance in collaboration with subcontractors and NT Housing.
Manage tenancy breaches, providing tenants with support to help maintain their tenancies.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate tenant and property files.
Meet regularly with tenants to conduct rent reviews.
Engage tenants actively, encouraging participation in tenancy responsibilities and the tenancy advisory group.
Review public housing applications and provide support in accordance with NT Housing and Mission Australia guidelines.
Collect tenant feedback on housing programs and present findings to management as required.
Attend and coordinate tenancy meetings as scheduled.
Develop strong working relationships with external stakeholders, including Territory Housing and other housing providers.
Prepare various reports, including tenancy, rental arrears, waiting list, and vacancy reports.
Conduct annual tenant surveys and report findings to the Program Manager.
Provide regular reports to funding bodies regarding tenant and program outcomes.
Requirements for Success Bachelor's degree in Community Services with relevant experience Community housing experience or property management experience desirable Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly those at risk of homelessness.
In-depth understanding of issues affecting individuals at risk of homelessness.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems.
Strong time management skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
Valid Driver's License Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
