You will share our values, commitment, and motivation to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities.
About the roleOur Housing Enabling Officers work to deliver the affordable housing which our residents need to give them safety, security and stability in their lives. In this role you will work closely with planners, developers, communities and housing associations to ensure that the right types of affordable homes are built.
You will negotiate with housing developers and influence planning decisions on behalf of people in housing need. You will help to complete legal agreements and ensure that they are enforced. You will advise community groups and elected officials to deliver community-led housing schemes. You will analyse data to ensure that we understand our districts' housing needs and make sure that the right homes get built.
About youYou will be interested in how places work, and the contribution that housing makes to communities, the local economy and individual wellbeinghave knowledge and experience of housing management, town planning or development and related practices and challengesbe educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience. A background in disciplines or study related to geography, construction, economics or other social sciences would be excellent but not essentialbe a confident communicator and able to analyse data, legislation, policies and drawings in order to make written or verbal recommendations to different audiencescare about the outcomes you deliver for the residents of Babergh and Mid Suffolk.About usWorking together across our councils and with our partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors, we provide excellent services to our 190,000 residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk.
