Burgmann College is a unique university residential community of 386 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Opened in 1971, Burgmann is affiliated with The Australian National University and is situated on its campus.
Burgmann offers exceptional pastoral care in a non-hierarchical, multi-year resident structure.
The Principal and Deputy Principal live on-site, contributing strongly to residents feeling safe in their home-away-from-home.
Burgmann is a community comprising residential members (students and staff), members of Council and members of Convocation.
Unlike many older colleges, Burgmann is a single community with no hierarchies of residential membership, and students play a significant role in the affairs of the College.
The College aims to provide:
a vital community;academic support;pastoral care for members of the community and, where possible, a wider university population; andthe empowerment and development of students, with maximum cooperation with resident bodies.The role: As an integral member of the housekeeping team, the Housekeeping Cleaners (WOBCO's - Workers of Burgmann College) assist the College with maintaining the cleanliness of the common areas of the College and ensure resident rooms are guest ready as required.
You will need to be a team player, great communicator, flexible and have an ability to work unsupervised.

Experience and Skills: Experience of 1-2 years in a similar role with general cleaning, dusting, mopping and scrubbing.Experience in manual handling and lifting equipment.Experience in setting up common areas for functions with residents, guests and stakeholders.Experience operating industrial equipment, onsite training may be provided.Experience in stock and chemical handling procedures.Awareness of building security and high level confidentiality.Ability to follow directions, set priorities and meet deadlines.Application Process: Please request the Duty Statement by email from the Manager of Business & Finance at: ******Applicants are invited to submit a cover letter (max 3 pages) outlining responses to the above experience and skills, with their resume by email to the Business Manager at: ******Due Date: Applications are due by 5.00pm Friday 25 October 2024.Hours: Up to 35 Hours p/w from 18 November 2024 to 7 February 2024.Interviews: Interviews for shortlisted applicants will be held from Tuesday 29 October 2024.The successful applicant will have a current working visa (if applicable).The successful applicant will hold a current police clearance.The successful applicant will hold a current full driver's licence.The successful applicant will hold a Working With Vulnerable People Registration.The successful applicant may be required to work some weekend hours.Previous applicants need not apply.Reporting Relations: The Housekeeping Cleaners are appointed by the Manager of Housekeeping and Manager of Business and Finance and report directly to the Manager of Housekeeping.
