Your Opportunity Kingston House is a therapeutic residential program offering safe and stable medium- to long-term accommodation for children and young people aged 12–15 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Designed to foster a nurturing, home-like environment, Kingston House focuses on family restoration by addressing conflicts, strengthening relationships, and promoting overall wellbeing.
Operating under Mission Australia's values, the House Manager will lead the team to deliver trauma-informed, child-centred, and flexible services that support family reunification and capacity building.
The role emphasizes a collaborative 'Care Team' approach to ensure the best outcomes for young people while maintaining consistency in service delivery aligned with the Therapeutic Model of Residential Care & Trauma informed practices.
Your Key Responsibilities Coach and mentor Residential Therapeutic Youth Workers, providing guidance on complex cases, emergency responses, and best practices.
Oversee and manage operational functions, including staff rostering, budget planning, and payroll entries, ensuring the service is well-resourced.
Develop and implement case management plans, conducting regular case reviews and support staff to ensure effective goal-setting and positive client outcomes.
Build and maintain strong positive internal relationships with staff and clients and cultivate effective partnerships with external stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
Conduct risk assessments, facilitate referrals, and oversee client intake processes to ensure comprehensive and effective support.
Support the Program Manager with reporting, quality assurance, and compliance with the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention principles.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, data entries, and case notes to meet quality and regulatory standards.
Be available for on-call responsibilities, taking on a full week every 3 weeks to ensure operational continuity.
Requirements for Success With a substantial background in Residential settings in the child, youth & family and/or homelessness and/or human services sectors, you will be confident in your values-based support skill with colleagues and clients, and ability to proactively support a multidisciplinary team.
Other requirements include: Minimum Diploma in allied health, social work, human services, or equivalent, with 3+ years of experience in residential care, youth work, or related fields.
Demonstrated experience in trauma-informed practices and working with young people with complex needs, including those from Aboriginal cultural backgrounds.
Proven ability to support and develop teams, create and maintain a positive culture, and manage operational tasks such as rostering and budgeting.
Strong understanding of strengths-based and person-centred approaches, including family and therapeutic interventions.
Excellent time management, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work autonomously and manage ambiguity.
Experience with compliance requirements, such as quality audits, continuous improvement processes, and case file management.
Effective communication and conflict resolution skills, with a commitment to professional boundaries and Mission Australia's values.
Availability to participate in a rotating on-call roster and manage the emotional demands of working with trauma-affected individuals.
Must hold a current Senior First Aid certificate with CPR.
Full driver licence with no restrictions.
