We do this by respecting their dignity, sharing our hope, and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny.The Society, working closely with Hobart City Mission, is excited to establish an accommodation service for up to 40 women experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Hobart which will operate for an initial period until the end of 2027. Operating 24/7, the Amelie House concept has benefited from expertise and insight from other like-minded organisations and this collaboration will continue once operations commence early in 2025.The role of House Manager will assist in establishing and overseeing operations of the House, while also managing a team of dedicated staff based from the site. The House Manager will also work with other organisations, ensuring cohesive service delivery from a range of offsite locations, while also gaining guidance and support from the wider SVDP leadership group to enable provision of safe and appropriate care for those accessing our support.Playing a lead role in implementation of this new service model, we are looking for an experienced operational leader who has a strong understanding of the community services sector, including the current housing environment and barriers that women may face when trying to secure safe and appropriate housing.Working closely with the CEO and wider team, this role will involve a blend of hands-on activity and leadership in supporting residents and staff, while ensuring compliance, regulatory and legislative requirements are met. Importantly, the House Manager will also understand that we seek to achieve our vision and purpose in a way that exceeds those fundamental standards, helping to deliver positive outcomes for our residents during their stay at Amelie House. This role is offered full time, for an initial fixed term of two years.Key Responsibilities:Experience in an operational leadership role in the NFP sector, ideally associated with delivery of services and/or support in a trauma-informed environment.Deep understanding of the current housing crisis, the experience of homelessness, and the barriers faced in overcoming associated challenges.Relatable experience in community service, mental health support, drug and alcohol support and/or social services settings.A collegial approach, demonstrating success in delivering services and/or support through a collaborative style that is focused on delivering positive, person-centred outcomes.Ability to manage and motivate diverse groups of staff through supportive and mentoring practices.Demonstrated leadership capacity in guiding a contemporary approach to delivery of HR functions, working effectively with others who assist in this area.Demonstrated experience in creating meaningful stakeholder relationships within the community services industry and across broader networks throughout the community.Exceptional time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.Ability to communicate with a wide range of cohorts, displaying empathy and fairness in all interactions.High level of administrative capacity, including the ability to gather and interpret data (including financial information), and to present to a broad array of parties.A strong sense of social justice and how this applies to the operations and strategic focus of Amelie House.Experience in continuous improvement and risk management, adopting a strategic and contemporary approach to situations and challenges.Commitment to work together with the greater SVDP team in achieving against strategic and operational plans.This role is vital to the success of the new service, Amelie House.
