This role offers a clear pathway to the General Manager position! Opening its doors in July 2021, this 101 room 4/4.5-star hotel has completed a staggered 2-year renovation plan resulting in a complete transformation from its former identity. Located in the heart of Cairns CBD, The Benson Hotel boasts a mix of facilities including a restaurant, café and bar/lounge, conference and meeting rooms, car parking and an outdoor swimming pool. In this position, you will effectively manage all departments so that they perform as profitable and sustainable departments, which provide consistently high-quality products and services. To contribute to the strategic goals and objectives of The Benson Hotel with responsibility to support, develop and retain employees. You will have previous Hotel Management experience, alongside a passion for leading from the front and empowering your team to succeed. With your extensive experience in hotel management, strong financial expertise and talent for leading and inspiring teams, you'll have the chance to make a significant impact and advance your career. Key Responsibilities Include: You embrace the 'big picture', without losing sight of financial targets and strategic goals. You take care of the nitty gritty – you're a systems and technology wiz and from a reporting and admin perspective, you make sure the hotel ticks all the right boxes, managing the day-to-day profitability, presentation, and operation of the entire property. A hands-on approach is required. Developing and implementing strategic revenue plans for the business. Lead the Marketing department to create strategies and successful campaigns. Identifying key areas for improvement across the business, developing strategic procedures for improvement. Managing, leading and motivating staff to ensure a high-performing team culture is maintained. Provide excellence in F&B, Front office and Housekeeping service standards. Develop a team skilled in anticipating guest needs and exceeding expectations while recognising the relationship between staff satisfaction and guest satisfaction. Ensure that consistency, quality and integrity of the hotel product and service are maintained. Actively seek guest feedback, and personally resolve guest complaints within your level of authority. Maintain and sustain a culture of management presence in all areas of the hotel. Manage and operate the hotel operations to achieve predetermined budgets and forecasts. Manage labour costs and manning levels in line with budgeted / forecasted / achieved occupancy levels. Monitor revenue on a daily basis and implement strategies to ensure that maximum revenue is achieved. Review monthly financial results, investigating and reporting on significant variances - develop action measures to prevent re-occurrences. Ensure that group purchasing agreements are utilised to their maximum advantage and stock receiving and control systems are maintained. Exhibit consistent high standards of personal ethics and behaviour. Demonstrate a culture of management by actively walking around and demonstrating a presence within the outlets. Qualifications: In addition to bringing a fresh perspective and energy, we are seeking candidates with the following experience: 4+ years of leadership experience in a hotel setting. Extensive operational and financial management experience within a hotel. Strong background in Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage, with a keen focus on customer service. A strong passion for hotel operations and a solid grasp of emerging industry trends and innovations. A drive for tackling challenges and exceptional problem-solving skills. Confident and articulate communication, negotiation, and networking skills. A proven track record of maintaining excellent product and service standards whilst maximising revenue and minimising expenses. The ability to develop and maintain solid working relationships with guests, owners, and staff. Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and learning. A positive and energetic attitude. An infectious passion for delivering a memorable guest experience and creating loyalty of guests. Applicants currently based in Cairns are desirable.
