Role Overview: The Hotel Accountant is responsible for managing and administering various components of the accounting function, ensuring compliance with regulations, as well as providing sound support to the Director of Finance in all aspects of the financial and commercial management of Melbourne Place.
This is a dynamic role with many different areas of responsibility.
The position requires great attention to detail, organise, and has a good level of maturity and can communicate with all departments within the precinct.
Key Responsibilities: Manage precinct bank reconciliations on a daily basis, ensuring accurate reconciliation of all banking and direct deposits, and coding/posting of all transactions across all bank accounts.Manage the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes including ensuring creditor invoices have the appropriate approval and recorded with accuracy in relation to account and department allocation.Work with the Director of Finance and the Purchasing Manager to ensure appropriate cost controls including advising of efficiencies and best practice.Manage the payroll function on a fortnightly basisAssist the Director of Finance with various financial planning and analysis activities of the precinct, including daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly management statistics, budget preparation, forecasting and various analysis to align with the precinct financial goals.Assist in preparing the Monthly Management Board Pack.Ensure and assist with the physical inventories of all supplies and operating equipment are being taken on a monthly and a biannual basis respectively.Implement all necessary control in order to safeguard the assets of the precinct and to maintain records for the fixed assets, operating equipment, supplies and inventories.Prepare cost auditor's reports and liaise with purchasing to ensure proper procedures and control of inventories.Take the lead on annual external audit.Create and upkeep of Finance Standard Operating Procedures.Train team members on financial processes and procedures.Keep and safeguard all contracts, leases, insurance policies and all legal and financial documents.Establish and conduct corporate credit and collection procedures for the precinct.Ensure all wholesaler and travel agent commissions are paid.Ensure taxes, contributions, licenses, interest, etc.
are paid as they fall due.Ensure all key control and issuance procedures are correctly applied and adhered to.Communicate and liaise with various departments within the precinct to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information.Implementation and maintenance of internal control systems and procedures.Administration/Compliance Ensure the precinct is adhering to all finance policies and procedures;Ensure government-stipulated hotel and team member tax legislations are strictly followed and implemented;Maintain all ledgers and journals and other accounting records of the precinct;Ensure all system integrations are active, transferring accurate data;Ensure daily reports are compiled accurately and produced in a timely manner.
