Job Title: Structural Engineer Draftsman Hot Weld Fabrication is seeking a Structural Engineer Draftsman to work in their busy steel fabrication office in Bunbury, South West of Perth WA. Applicant must have a positive attitude in a team environment, strong work ethic, and be reliable. They must have great attention to detail and show initiative and pride within their work.
Responsibilities: Analyze the statical properties of all types of structures, test the behavior and durability of materials used in their construction, and design and supervise the construction of all types of structures. Provide detailing of shop drawings for commercial, mining, and residential projects and others as directed, reporting to the Project Manager(s) within a busy steel fabrication business. Determine construction methods, materials, quality standards, and draft and interpret specifications, drawings, plans, construction methods, and procedures. Detail shop drawings from architectural and engineering drawings and specifications. Study architectural and engineering drawings and specifications to estimate costs and prepare detailed cost plans and estimates as tools to assist. Plan, organize, and direct how to deliver site labor, construction materials, and plant and equipment services for each project in consultation with the Managing Director, Project Manager, and Site Supervisor as required. Analyze structural systems for both static and dynamic loads. Establish detailed programs for the coordination of site activities. Assess present and future travel flow patterns, taking into account population increase and changes in needs. Monitor changes to designs, assessing effects on cost, and measuring, valuing, and negotiating variations to designs. Design structures to ensure they do not collapse, bend, twist or vibrate in undesirable ways. Requirements: Deliver excellent customer service and communication on behalf of the company to both existing and new customers. Solve problems and make decisions as required. Have a solid understanding of construction and building codes. Have a strong understanding of structural engineering principles. Effectively meet project deadlines. Position available is full time, working 5 days a week. Must be able to undergo pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. Training and supervision will be provided. Experience in the position is required with a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, certification or experience using CAD software, and experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology.
Base Annual Salary: $70,000 to $75,000
