Teaching - Secondary (Education & Training) Full time We are seeking a Home Economics teacher with the ability to teach Food and Textiles in the Secondary School. This teacher will specialise in Children Family & Community & Materials Design & Technology.
Secondary Home Economics Teacher – 1.0 FTE - Semester 1, 2025 The successful person will be a self-starter, innovative and flexible. The position of Head of House and Head of Learning Area will also be considered for the right applicant. Summary: The Arts and Technology Department offers a comprehensive and diverse program designed to stimulate and equip our students with a sense of curiosity, knowledge, and a range of skills that are relevant to the sciences and have broader application to daily life. This teaching role will include Children, Families and Communities ATAR and Materials Design & Technology General.
Responsibilities: Teaching and Learning Plan and implement coherent, well-sequenced teaching and learning programs that engage students and maximise learning. Use a range of teaching strategies to deliver quality teaching programs that are responsive to the learning strengths and needs of students. Use assessment feedback to inform teaching practice. Establish inclusive, supportive learning environments. Develop, select, and use informal and formal, formative, and summative assessment strategies to assess student learning. Prepare and deliver timely and targeted feedback and reports to students and parents. Pastoral Care Actively participate in pastoral care and wellbeing programs and other co-curricular activities. Some co-curricular activities will occur outside normal school hours. Communicate with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians in a respectful, clear, caring, and professional manner. Other duties Participate in school functions including Speech Night and Parent Teacher evenings. Perform supervisory duties as required. Engage in professional reading and development as part of an expectation of continual professional learning. Participate in department meetings and whole staff meetings. Some of these may occur outside of normal school hours. Participate in the Co-curricular Program of the school. Abide by the staff Code of Conduct and other School policies. Other duties may be required. Qualifications & Experience A Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or equivalent or A relevant undergraduate degree and teaching qualifications (essential). Experience teaching Home Economics in Middle School. Children Family and the Community ATAR Year 12 and General Year 11 & 12 experience (essential). Materials Design & Technology - Textiles – General Year 11 (essential). Understanding and awareness of the Western Australian Curriculum from Year 7 to Year 10. You will also be required to provide, or be willing to obtain, a current working with children check. The Working with Children Check is a compulsory screening strategy in WA schools.
