We are looking for people who are committed to promoting and supporting the individual needs of clients and the ability to communicate effectively, maintain good working relationships with carers, families and advocates. ABOUT THE ROLE: You will be supporting clients to live independently at home and engage in community activities. The role is varied, a combination of social support and some cleaning duties. By applying a personalised approach, you will ensure that the service provided best meets the needs of the individual.
Key duties on a day to basis include: Social Support Support the client to access shopping, essential services and attend appointments.Building the client's skills such as cooking, using a computer, gardening Support the client to engage in new or existing activities or hobbies such as employment, sports, volunteering or making friends.Provide support to participate in social activities with friends or community groups.Light household duties including cooking, shopping, laundry etc.Indirectly providing families and carers time away from their caring role. Residential Cleaning Carry out housekeeping duties such as (but not limited to) dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, emptying bins, fridges and freezers, as indicated in the clients support plan.Washing clothing including hanging out to dry and folding of clothes.Changing of linen as required.Maintain safe work environment and communicate with program coordinators to improve service deliverySKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Essential Current unrestricted QLD drivers licence, registered vehicle and clean driving record.Current First Aid Certificate (training provided for new/out of date qualifications) Experience supporting people with disabilities or the Aged Care sectorA commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs of clientsGood communication skills, including the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (including carers, families and advocates)Deliver all supports to the highest standard, in accordance with the Queensland Community Social Support Practice Manual.Well-developed written and verbal communication skills (weekly reporting requirements)Dependability and punctuality.Desirable Certificate III in Individual Support/Disability, or equivalent qualification in related area.Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).The role is permanent part-time 15 hours per week (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday) with no flexibility with days and times as the clients need both social support/cleaning on specified days.
