Education and Experience (Required)Possess a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from an accredited institution Possess a valid Michigan secondary teaching certificate with an endorsement in counseling (NT) Possess a School Counselor License Possess a Preliminary Authorization to work as a School Counselor Possess a Temporary School Counselor Authorization Education and Experience (Desired) Three to five years of counseling experience at the high school level with involvement in organizing and conducting group guidance activitiesActive involvement in guidance and counseling professional organizationsEstablished record of positive attitude and rapport with studentsExcellent interpersonal skillsCollaborative/Growth orientatedDemonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues, families, and studentsA willingness to learn new skills, to be reflective, and to acquire new knowledge along with evidence of being flexible and having superior problem-solving skillsEvidence of being highly organized and having excellent time-management skillsProven leadership qualities such as being a member of a school improvement team, a member of a curriculum council, a chair of a student organization, or the chair of a grade level or departmentCertification in additional subject areas Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide counseling services to assigned studentsAssist staff members in meeting the needs of studentsFamiliarity and understanding of Comprehensive GuidanceKnowledge of post-secondary admissions and financial aid scholarship processInterpersonal skills in areas of crisis management and problem solvingKnowledge of how to work with students through social/emotional issues and substance issuesAbility to make connections with community partners and resourcesKnowledge of Educational Development Plans and Career PathwaysAbility to communicate with students, parents, and staff membersFamiliarity with state testingKnowledge of 504 process and implementation Physical Requirements and Work Environment: This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walkingThe position requires occasional lifting of suppliesWork takes place both indoors and outdoors, with some travel to other schools or field trip locations Schedule: Position begins 2024-25 School Year Salary: Per MDMEA Agreement ($41,017 to $85,433) Commensurate with experienceBenefits: Medical, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, and paid time off per the bargaining unit contract.Deadline: May 13th, 2024
