The community-centred College, which was established in 1995 in response to parent demand for a local faith-based school, is located on the southern outskirts of Brisbane in the suburb of Karawatha, about 20km south-east of the Brisbane CBD.The Position:Reports to: Head of IslamicDepartment: IslamicEmployment Category: Part-time – Before and after school hours, and Saturday morningsPosition Overview:We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Hifdh (Quran Memorisation) Teacher to join our Islamic school. The ideal candidate will support students in their Quran memorisation journey, instilling in them a love for the Quran and the discipline required for Hifdh. This role is part-time, requiring availability before and after school and on Saturday mornings.Key Responsibilities:Lead Hifdh sessions with individual students or small groups, focusing on accuracy, Tajweed (pronunciation), and memorisation techniques.Assess students' progress regularly, providing feedback and adjusting memorisation plans to meet individual needs.Encourage students' spiritual growth, emphasizing the significance and etiquette of Quran memorisation.Maintain a supportive and motivating learning environment.Collaborate with other Islamic studies staff and communicate regularly with parents to ensure consistent support for students.Uphold the school's values and mission by fostering a respectful, faith-centered learning environment.Qualifications and Skills:Must be a Haafidh/a of the Quran.Proficiency in Quran recitation and memorisation with a solid understanding of Tajweed rules.Certificate in Quranic Studies, Tajweed, or related qualification; formal Ijazah (certification) in Quran memorisation is preferred.Previous experience teaching Quran or Hifdh, particularly with school-aged children.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to teaching.Ability to engage and motivate students, demonstrating patience and encouragement.Familiarity with cultural sensitivity in an Islamic educational setting.Application Process:Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their CV, along with a cover letter outlining their experience and motivation for teaching Hifdh.
