This is a unique opportunity to work in new and innovative ways that recognise First Peoples as the self-determining drivers of Aboriginal affairs in Victoria. This role will contribute to the ground-breaking work of the Group in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination, and cultural rights.The Heritage Registry Project Officer supports the administration of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (the Act) by maintaining the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Register (VAHR). The Heritage Registry Project Officer contributes to the daily activities of the Heritage Registry Team in promoting best practice management of Aboriginal cultural heritage data. The role also plays an active role in engaging and building partnerships across communities, government, and industry to improve understanding of the VAHR and to ensure stakeholders are supported in the registration of Aboriginal places.The First Peoples - State Relations Group recognises the invaluable contribution of existing Aboriginal staff and is committed to promoting Aboriginal leadership as reflected in the Group's Executive team. The Group welcomes applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and strongly encourages all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people interested in these positions to apply.About YouAs our ideal candidate, you will have:Demonstrated information system management skills and knowledge and experience in the management of database systems.Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to show initiative and a proactive approach in identifying issues and developing appropriate solutions.Highly-developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to establish effective working relationships and provide advice on processes and policies to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.Strong organisational and time management skills including the ability to prioritise and achieve various tasks within tight timeframes, ensuring outputs are delivered in an efficient and effective way.Demonstrated ability and commitment to a team-based approach in an environment subject to work pressures and change in dealing with competing priorities and strict deadlines.The closing date for this position is Thursday 05 December 2024.How to applyApply before the advertised closing date.
