An exciting and unique opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Community Relations & Heritage Branch in the First Peoples-State Relations Group as The Heritage Registry Project Officer at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
First Peoples - State Relations Group in DPC is seeking talented and passionate individuals committed to progressing the Victorian Government's nation leading work with First Peoples.
This is a unique opportunity to work in new and innovative ways that recognise First Peoples as the self-determining drivers of Aboriginal affairs in Victoria.
This role will contribute to the ground-breaking work of the Group in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination and cultural rights.
The First Peoples - State Relations Group supports an extensive program of priority work with First Peoples, applying a strong understanding of self-determination to our work practices and in providing clear and robust advice to the Minister for Treaty and First Peoples, Premier, Cabinet and senior executives within the Group.
The Heritage Registry Project Officer supports the administration of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (the Act) by maintaining the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Register (VAHR).
The Heritage Registry Project Officer contributes to the daily activities of the Heritage Registry Team in promoting best practice management of Aboriginal cultural heritage data.
The role also plays an active role in engaging and building partnerships across communities, government and industry to improve understanding of the VAHR and to ensure stakeholders are supported in the registration of Aboriginal places.

About You As our ideal candidate, you will have: * Demonstrated information system management skills and knowledge and experience in the management of database systems.
* Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to show initiative and a proactive approach in identifying issues and developing appropriate solutions.
* Highly-developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to establish effective working relationships and provide advice on processes and policies to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong organisational and time management skills including the ability to prioritise and achieve various tasks within tight timeframes, ensuring outputs are delivered in an efficient and effective way.
* Demonstrated ability and commitment to a team-based approach in an environment subject to work pressures and change in dealing with competing priorities and strict deadlines.
