About Umwelt: With three decades of experience and eight locations nationwide, we are a team of vibrant professionals with experience across a range of sectors including renewables, infrastructure, defence, regulation and policy, resources, and the urban development sector.
We provide fully integrated environmental and social assessment and management services including concept and feasibility, technical assessment, consultation, approvals, delivery, operation, and decommissioning.
Our Queensland Cultural Heritage Team performs a wide range of heritage services including project management, consultation and engagement, agreement development and negotiation, and technical heritage projects.
Working in a team-based delivery structure we regularly prepare heritage constraints analyses, duty of care assessments, risk assessments, field surveys, heritage impact statements, exemption certificates, Aboriginal cultural heritage management agreement and plans, and undertake technical archaeological tasks.
About the role: The role will ideally suit an early to mid-career cultural heritage professional who has experience and confidence with performing consultation and engagement tasks with Aboriginal parties and other stakeholders in the cultural heritage management process.
The person must be comfortable to work under supervision and guidance from others within the team on the delivery of cultural heritage assessments, advisory services, and in the execution of technical and reporting tasks.
Being open to working "client-side" on secondments with our key clients also forms a core function of this role.
Initially this role will be offered as a 12 month fixed term contract, however, has a high possibility of extending or becoming a permanent role.
About you: We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person who has: A degree in Cultural Heritage Management, Anthropology, Archaeology or other degree Umwelt considers relevant to the role.
Previous relevant cultural heritage industry experience (3+ years), preferably in a consulting context, though certain government heritage experience will be considered.
Demonstrated experience working under Queensland cultural heritage legislation, associated regulations and guidelines, especially the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 (QLD) and Queensland Heritage Act 1992 (QLD).
Current Australian Drivers licence.
Demonstrated experience in: Cultural heritage management projects, with a strong preference for transport and renewable energy project experiences.
Consultation with Aboriginal parties.
Participation in the delivery cultural heritage field surveys and collating and analysing field survey results.
Artefact identification and recording, especially stone artefacts.
Preparation and completion of reports and proposals.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other professional, community members and stakeholders as part of a collaborative working environment to delivery high quality results.
Commitment to workplace health and safety requirements.
Good verbal and written communication skills with people from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
An ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders Is a team player who is organised, shows initiative, and is motivated with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
