Heritage Advisor, Aids to Navigation $98,528 - $117,647 + 15.4% super Flexible Location (AMSA offices ACT, VIC, NSW, QLD, SA, TAS) Ongoing Help keep Australia's coast safe and clean, and save livesWork within a professional team that manages the heritage, and future, of AMSA's Aid to Navigation network.Use your heritage management and project management skills in a rewarding environmentABOUT THE ROLE The Aids to Navigation (AtoN) Heritage Advisor is responsible for managing all AtoN heritage management activities for AMSA. This role will undertake research, source, collate and provide technical and specialist advice, and support heritage aspects of maintenance and project work for the AtoN network.
The role primarily administers and oversees the Asset Management and Preparedness Team obligations in the heritage management field, and manages key relationships with external stakeholders and the public.
You will be responsible for:
Providing support to government heritage management agencies and other external stakeholders on AMSA heritage issues surrounding the AtoN network.Managing AMSA's AtoN heritage planning and reporting requirements including:Managing the development and review of AMSA's Heritage Strategy and Heritage Register in accordance with legislative obligations and management guidance.Managing the development and review of AMSA's Heritage Management Plans in accordance with legislative obligations and management guidance.Developing and maintaining AMSA's artefact catalogue, including consulting with museums and other agencies regarding the loan of heritage artefacts.Managing the Heritage Artefact Storage and Logistics contract to ensure cost effective delivery of the service.Providing heritage advice and support to the Asset Management and Preparedness team on aids to navigation maintenance activities and capital work refurbishment projects.Building and managing ongoing relationships with key external stakeholders, including the public, to foster effective networks with these important external organisations.Working closely with AMSA media and communications staff to develop opportunities to promote AMSA's AtoN heritage management activities.SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in architecture, civil engineering, and/or the preservation and conservation of heritage buildings and structures, or equivalent experience.Demonstrated skills and experience in analysing and interpreting legislation, standards & other policy documents, and translating into a simple, operational context - allowing other team members to understand the requirements and the implications.A highly developed understanding of the conservation and preservation of heritage aspects of land, structures and artefacts including relevant guidelines and legislation.A highly developed understanding of the requirements for seeking heritage approvals, consulting with internal and external stakeholders, including traditional landowners, and preparing and lodging legislative instruments.Highly developed analytical, critical thinking and communications skills.Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite of applications.A current motor vehicle licence is highly desirable.Experience in project management is desirable.For more information about this role, please refer to the position description.
