EXECUTIVE MANAGER - STRATEGIC PROJECTS AND CLIMATE Full time
With a dedicated workforce of approximately 320 and an operating budget nearing $75m, the City of Mitcham is a clean and green City with a strong future. Just 15 minutes from the CBD, this picturesque foothills City has an enviable blend of urban and semi-rural environments, beautiful parks, reserves and gardens, heritage architecture, native bushland and scenic views.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Executive Leadership Group, this role provides future-focused leadership to drive transformational commercial initiatives that redefine what is possible for the local community. You will be at the forefront of innovation, leading efforts in:
strategic visioning to enable the organisation to create a new future which responds to emerging community demands and climate change; leading the existing game-changing City of Mitcham community energy initiatives; spearheading initiatives focused on climate change, carbon emissions reduction, renewable energy and waste management; collaborating with community stakeholders, industry leaders, Council Members and internal teams to bring bold ideas to life; leveraging new technology to deliver community value; leading, managing and inspiring staff; managing day to day operations which deliver high service standards, cost efficiency, timeliness and quality of customer outcomes; fostering an environment centred on trust, open communication, creative thinking and cohesive team effort. Applications are welcome from entrepreneurial leaders with proven experience driving strategic initiatives, innovating and managing transformative projects. Demonstrated success developing and managing partnerships and building strong stakeholder relationships will also be important. Other essential requirements include well-developed leadership, negotiation, influencing, analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience and a passion for renewable energy project management or environmental sustainability initiatives would be an advantage as would familiarity with public sector processes and Council operations.
