We are seeking a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Queanbeyan. As a Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing hire equipment, ensuring maximum reliability and functionality. The ideal candidate will have a background in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues in machinery and trucks. Good eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, and excellent problem-solving abilities are essential. Strong communication skills are also crucial for providing advice to customers. Responsibilities: Inspect equipment, mechanical, and electrical components to accurately diagnose issues. Inspect vehicle computers and electronic systems to repair, maintain, and upgrade. Conduct routine maintenance work, such as replacing fluids and lubricating parts, to enhance vehicle functionality and longevity. Schedule future maintenance sessions and provide advice to operators on proper machine use. Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts, addressing issues like leaks. Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for repair or maintenance jobs. Keep detailed logs on work performed and identified issues. Maintain equipment and tools in good condition. Requirements and Skills: Proven experience as a diesel mechanic / fitter. Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of machines. Experience working on trucks, semi trailers, earth moving  machinery & attachments. Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods. Ability to handle various tools (e.g., pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g., lift). Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals, etc. Excellent physical condition. High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred. Heavy vehicle license (HR, HC preferred) Non-smoker/vaper (we have a 100% smoke free workplace) All types of welding, oxy ^ acetylene, TIG & MIG preferred.  What's In it for you: Full-time opportunity Competitive Pay Great work environments
