Qualifications & experience

Previous experience as a Truck Mechanic
Appropriate and certified trade certification
Experience with Japanese trucks (advantageous)
A background in diesel mechanics
An HR Licence (not essential)
Quick thinker with strong problem-solving skills
Good time management, organisation, and collaboration capability
High degree of integrity
Understanding of health and safety regulations
Ability to build rapport with clients
Strong customer service skills
Ability to mentor and coach

Tasks & responsibilities

Inspect and repair vehicles with diesel engines
Safe use of electricity, machinery, and hand tools
Compliance with all rules and standards of the motor vehicle repair shop
Handle routine repairs, including oil and tire changes
Interpret diagnostic test results accurately
Write detailed inspection reports and repair plans
Train and mentor trainees and apprentices
Collaborate with other diesel mechanics
Submit reports and plans for approval to customers
Advise on repair options and costs to customers
Adhere to health and safety regulations
