The Role: The role of Heavy Vehicle Mechanic repairs, maintains and tests a range of vehicles, trailers, plant and equipment for compliance against the NHVAS and WA maintenance standards.
Key daily activities include: Conduct servicing of all vehicles in the Alice Springs fleet in line with servicing timelines and ensure documentation is completed in a timely manner for regular auditing purposes.Travel to sites and locations outside of Alice Springs to perform repairs and maintenance works on vehicles as required.Inspect vehicles and detail work required to ensure ongoing compliance and road worthiness, communicating needs with Drivers and relevant Supervisors to ensure activities are planned and scheduled with operational demands.Ensure the Workshop area is maintained to a high standard of safety.Any/all vehicle maintenance duties as reasonably required.This is generally a Monday – Friday role, with ordinary hours being 7:00am – 3:30pm, so an ideal role for someone wanting a change from FIFO or long rosters.
Some remote work may be required at times, with additional allowances and higher hourly rate when applicable.
Suitable Candidates for this role: Suitable candidates will be trade qualified in Heavy Diesel Mechanics, hold a current Forklift licence (or be willing to obtain prior to commencement), hold a Construction Induction card (e.g.
White Card), and preferably hold a current Heavy Combination Licence.
Working at Heights training (completed or refreshed in the last two years) is preferred.
A minimum of three years experience is required, as this role requires a large amount of their day to day duties to be completed autonomously, or in consultation with experienced Heavy Vehicle Drivers and the Alice Springs Operations Manager.
Suitable candidates may be required to undergo pre-employment assessments, inclusive of National Police Check and Pre-employment Medical.
Competitive hourly rate is provided, as is generous allowances for any overnight work required to be completed in remote locations.
