The HD Mechanic - PSG is accountable to increase the all-round performance, reliability, and availability of Caterpillar equipment by means of applying acquired mechanical skill set together with gained Caterpillar maintenance experience for completing preventative maintenance or carrying out mechanical repairs as per assigned practical work tasks.
The HD Mechanic - PSG is the link between the Customer, Westrac and Caterpillar for all hands-on Caterpillar equipment preventive maintenance practices and technical repairs, as per Caterpillar product technical maintenance information and documentation SIS2.
This role will pro-actively assist with customer maintenance work teams for assigned major & minor work scopes, equipment trouble shooting and technical reporting via Caterpillar process and procedures. The HD Mechanic - PSG will be responsible for completing assigned work scope in alignment with Westrac policies and procedures, also customer work process requirement when on site. Emphasis on providing hands-on technical assistance and a high level of productivity to support and assist the customer's maintenance work teams.
In co-operation with the Customer's site maintenance personnel, regularly visit sites or scheduled roster to carry out agreed work scope under the guidance and supervision of the customer maintenance division.
Proactively assist with on-site customer maintenance teams site planned major/minor site work scope.
Actively apply obtained mechanical skill set and demonstrate Caterpillar technical knowledge to all assigned work scope.
Demonstrate Caterpillar best practice where possible in relation to customer preventative maintenance processes to operating site conditions and expected component planned life - contamination control.
Utilise SIS2 for all recommended corrective repair process as per Caterpillar guidelines and procedures.
Display a high level of detail and work instruction for all JHA and safety related work scope risk assessments.
Work autonomously or within the work group effectively and productively as assigned by customer supervision.
Ability to troubleshoot and apply effective repair process to rectify equipment as required.
Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned work scope productively and efficiently.
Carry out warranty repairs as per Caterpillar processes and procedures.
Report and document warranty issues and concerns.
Utilise ET for Caterpillar equipment connectivity to assist with maintenance troubleshooting and software updates.
Location: Various Sites
Roster: 2 weeks on 1 week off 12hrs (excluding lunch break)
To be successful the following is required:
Australian-recognised Heavy-Duty Trade Certificate
HR-Licence
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
Excellent fault-finding skills, troubleshooting and diagnostics
Previous post trade Caterpillar experience in a field service environment (advantageous)
