Heatwave Resilience Project Officer

Details of the offer

Be a Part of Change: Help Central Goldfields Shire Stay Cool and Connected.
Fixed-Term (12 months) Part-Time Band 5: $73,181 - $84,041 + Super About Central Goldfields: Welcome to Central Goldfields Shire, where heritage architecture meets a vibrant, tight-knit community. Located just an hour from Ballarat or Bendigo and two hours from Melbourne, we're a dynamic Council with a focus on enriching lives. Surrounded by agricultural, manufacturing, and food production industries, our region is on the rise—and we want you to be part of this journey!
About the Role: As the Heatwave Resilience Project Officer, you'll lead a groundbreaking Vic Health project, "Keeping Cool in the Central Goldfields." You'll play a vital role in helping our community adapt to extreme heat by raising awareness, creating cooling refuges, and empowering residents to support each other during high temperatures. Your work will make a real difference, particularly for those at high risk, including the elderly, young children, and people living with disabilities.
What You'll Do: Coordinate stakeholder engagement and community outreach initiatives. Develop and implement a communications plan to increase awareness of heat-related health risks. Organise school sessions, community workshops, and targeted consultations with local groups. Map and activate "cool spaces" across the Shire to provide relief during heatwaves. What We're Looking For: If you're passionate about community resilience and have a background in community development or engagement, we'd love to meet you! You'll bring strong communication skills, project management experience, and an eagerness to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Why Join Us? At Central Goldfields Shire, we value flexibility and growth. You'll benefit from flexible working arrangements, a competitive salary, and the chance to shape a safer, more connected community. Apply today and make an impact that lasts!
Applications close Monday 18 November 2024 at 5.00pm. Interviews will be conducted week commencing Wednesday 27 November 2024.
