Disability Management Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly serviceMaintains a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all aspects of job performance in accordance with our Ethics & Social Responsibility Charter and Talent & Culture Policies, Procedures and StandardsManages and administers disability claims function related to both occupational and non-occupational short-term and long-term claims and appeals.
Review and advise on disability accommodation considering medical prognosis and physician's recommendation.
Communicates with WorksafeBC, insurance carriers, treating physicians and health care practitioners to ensure claim files are complete while ensuring high level of privacy with the objective of addressing or aiding in resolution, including early return to work and cost containment.Use critical thinking skills to make decisions based on the results of an overall assessment of each claim.Performs case management for optimal recovery and return-to-work of ill/injured employees, involving development, negotiation and implementation of vocational rehabilitation, return to work plans and duty to accommodate agreements.
Monitors plan effectiveness, initiating adjustments as required.Develops and recommends policies aimed at facilitating employees' timely return to work and reduction of related costs.
Develops and leads disability management initiatives.
Develops reports and presentations of program achievements, status of initiatives, emerging issues, and trend analysis.Provides consultation to employees and managers regarding disability management services, the dispute resolution process, and the responsibilities in the workplace accommodation process.
Advises supervisors and managers of program provisions, and collaborates on identification of systemic barriers and return to work issues.Support management with respect to workplace injuries, disability accommodation and prevention of injuries, modified work/alternate work plans and employee absenteeism.Benefits Manages the benefit function including administering the extended Group Benefit Plan, Pension, TFSA and RRSP plans.Educates colleagues and answers inquiries regarding the group benefit plans.Preparation of monthly reports including benefit premiums and usage, coordinates payments, and other reports as required.Responsible for creation and management of information on internal communication forums, as well as employee-focused social media and online sites as it relates to job function.Supports various administrative functions within the Talent & Culture department including: employee travel program administration, access requests, employment letters etc.Health & Safety & Wellness Chairperson of hotel Wellness committee, and Health & Safety representative, with the responsibility of organizing hotel Wellness initiatives and support preparation for annual COR Audits.Develop and deploy meaningful and impactful wellness initiatives and programs for the hotel.Assist with facilitation of company directed training, including: new employee orientation & onboarding, service culture training, discrimination, harassment and bullying prevention training, conducting hotel tours etc.Day-to-day Supports the maintenance of a confidential organized filing system for employee files, correspondence, policies, standards, and regulations.Occasionally work a flexible schedule, where required, including intermittent evening hours and weekends to meet the needs of the department and hotel.Support and execute staff relations activities such as the Anniversary Awards Reception, Children's Christmas party, Be Our Guest program, diversity equality and inclusion promotions, charity campaigns, staff parties, etc.
as assigned.Duties & responsibilities may be established by the Hotel from time to time and subject to change according to business requirements.Qualifications: Minimum 3-year previous experience in Human Resources with experience in Group Benefit Plan administration, Disability Claims Management, and previous leadership experience.Proven ability to successfully Manage Disability Claims to both, occupational and non-occupational absences.Human Resources or related degree/certificate completion an asset.Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated abilities and creative use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and various social media platforms.Proven ability to maintain professionalism in a highly confidential environment.Balanced approach to attending to details and working with enthusiasm.Must be able to remain focused, calm and helpful in a busy, fast-paced office environment.Excellent organizational and administrative skills, very detailed orientated and a proven ability to meet deadlines, be accountable and help others be accountable.Ability to understand the needs of a diverse workforce.A passion for service, team building and helping others be successful.Additional Information: Canadian work authorization.
