Maitland Hospital is seeking a skilled and dedicated Health Service Manager - Sterilising Services Unit to join our dynamic perioperative team.

About the Role: As the Health Service Manager for the Sterilising Services Unit, you will oversee daily operations, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of sterilisation and decontamination services across the hospital.
You'll be responsible for managing a team of 20 staff (and growing), supporting the department's objectives, and leading continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities: Rostering & Staffing: Managing team rosters, ensuring appropriate staffing levels to meet operational needs.Collaboration: Regular meetings with the perioperative team to plan procedures and manage operational lists.Quality Assurance: Oversee the performance qualifications (PQ) and regular servicing of key equipment, including washers, sterilisers, and RO water systems.Contractor Liaison: Coordinating with external contractors, including service providers like Ecolab.Committee Participation: Actively participate in organisational meetings (e.g., Infection Prevention and Control - IPC).Relationship Management: Foster close working relationships with theatre and other key departments such as dental services.Quality Improvement: Lead and implement quality improvement initiatives and service enhancements to maintain high standards of sterilisation.To be successful in this role, you will have: Proven management experience in a healthcare facility, with a strong understanding of sterilising services.Expertise in rostering, including the creation and staffing of rosters.Cost centre management and experience in overseeing budgets.Recruitment and people management skills, including conducting Performance Development Reviews (PDRs), performance management, and conflict resolution.A passion for quality improvements and service enhancement projects that drive departmental and organisational success.A Sterilising Certificate is desirable, but not essential.
