Why Marthakal Homelands Health Service? MHHS, situated on Galiwin'ku (Elcho Island), is a mobile Yolgnu Medical Service covering 15,000 square kilometers in the remote East Arnhem Land with a population between around 250. There are 29 homelands in the Marthakal Homelands region, for which the medical service is on 24 hours emergency call. Being a mobile medical service means that the health team travel in small planes and four-wheel drive vehicles to conduct clinics out on the homelands. What medical equipment can't be packed can't be taken, so compact sturdy anti shock equipment is used.
What's in it for you? Salary of $130,000 – $140,000 per annum plus salary sacrificing/super Annual bonus and 6 weeks' annual leave Work life balance with limited on call required Accommodation provided as well as freight and internet allowance $10,000 Relocation support for eligible candidates Fares out of isolated locations (FOIL) at least once every six months Live and work in a community steeped in traditions and culture What's the role? Responsible for leading the Health Service through continuous quality improvement systems to continuing successful AGPAL Accreditation. Manage the Health Service Budget Participate in the regional Continuous Quality Improvement CPHAG opportunities to improve processes and systems in accordance with quality systems methods. Support and participate in all initiatives and change processes that aim to improve service delivery. Maintain confidentiality of all organisational information. Provide direct clinical care to patients, ensuring cultural safety and quality of care. Supervise and support clinical staff, including mentoring and professional development. Manage clinical documentation and patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant legislation. Coordinate patient referrals and follow-up care. Is the role right for you? A relevant tertiary qualification which may or may not be a clinical degree that requires current registration with APHRA Proven experience in Health Service Management Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively. Knowledge of administrative procedures and systems such as filing and record keeping. Understanding of or experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to engage effectively and sensitively with Indigenous people for whom English is not their first language Ability to travel by 4 WD, single engine planes and small barges to remote Marthakal Homelands Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of social determinants of health issues affecting Aboriginal people Ability to undergo a successful Criminal History and Working with Children's Check, and gain/maintain a current NT Drivers Licence What's it like living in Galiwin'ku (Elcho Island)?
